Programs: ScholarshipsDuring the 2006-2007 year, the Independent College Fund of New York received $409,506 in designated scholarship funds. The Fund administers each of these programs, working closely with the contributor and the participating colleges. Additionally, most of the undesignated funds are also used to provide financial assistance to qualified students. Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation Math/Science ScholarsThe Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation provides grants to students majoring in math or science programs at member colleges. (view/download application) Coca-Cola First Generation ScholarshipsThe Coca-Cola Foundation established 18 scholarships for students who are the first in their family to attend college. These grants are renewable during the students' four years of study provided that they maintain a 3.0 academic average. C R BardC. R. Bard Company has established a scholarship program which assists students from the Glens Falls area attending ICFNY Colleges. (view/download application) Citigroup FoundationThe Citigroup Foundation awarded scholarships for students (juniors/seniors) intending to teach in the rural areas or inner cities of New York State. Curran Investment Management ScholarshipA scholarship funded by Curran Investment Management awarded to a student majoring in business. Crane Fund for Widows and Children ScholarshipFor 32 years the Crane Fund has been providing scholarships through ICFNY for students with particular financial aid needs. Five grants were awarded in 2006-07. Colgate-Palmolive ScholarshipsColgate-Palmolive's contribution supported scholarships for students of Hispanic heritage entering their junior or senior year in the 2006-2007 academic year. The selected students must achieve a 3.0 average. (view/download application) Creditors InterchangeCreditors Interchange sponsored a scholarship for a student from the Buffalo area attending an ICFNY college in the western region of the state. (view/download application) Clifford and Doris Whitcomb Endowed ScholarshipTwo students were chosen to receive assistance from the Whitcomb Endowed Scholarship Fund in 2006-07. This program was established by Managing Director Emeritus, Clifford Whitcomb and his wife, Doris. Ernst and Young Business Leaders ScholarshipErnst and Young has designated a scholarship for a student, majoring in accounting, who has achieved an outstanding academic record. Farm Family InsuranceA student from a rural area of New York State was chosen to receive this grant from Farm Family Insurance Company. HSBC First Opportunity Partners ScholarshipUnder the sponsorship of the Foundation for Independent Higher Education, ICFNY received a grant from HSBC - North America which provided financial assistance to 5 students who are first in their family to attend college and a member of a minority group. Fred and Harriett Taylor ScholarshipWith support from the Fred & Harriett Taylor Foundation, scholarship assistance is available for high school graduates of the Hammondsport, New York area attending upstate ICFNY colleges. (view/download application) Henry and Marion Quellmalz Endowed ScholarshipThree students were chosen to receive scholarships from the endowment established by Trustee Emeritus, Henry Quellmalz and his wife, Marion. Hudson River Bank & Trust and The Florio Foundation ScholarshipHudson River Bank and Trust Foundation and the Florio Foundation awarded scholarship funds for two students who are first in her/his family to attend college. Independence Community Foundation ScholarshipsThe Independence Community Foundation has established 2 four-year scholarships for graduates of South Brooklyn Community High School. Johnson & Johnson ScholarshipICFNY received support from Johnson and Johnson's Campaign for Nursing's Future. Three students pursuing an undergraduate degree in nursing were selected to receive scholarship support. (view/download application) The James T. Lee Foundation ScholarshipsThe James T. Lee Foundation supports scholarship grants for students attending ICFNY member colleges in the New York City area. (view/download application) The Conrad and Virginia Klee FoundationScholarships, underwritten by the Klee Foundation, were awarded to 6 students from Broome County attending ICFNY colleges. (view/download application) The Al and Kay Benso/Shenendehowa Senior Citizens ScholarshipThis scholarship named in memory of Al and Kay Benso is awarded to a student from Shenendehowa High School (Clifton Park, NY) who has performed volunteer service with senior citizens of the community. Miles Hodsdon Vernon FoundationFor the 10th consecutive year, the Miles Hodsdon Vernon Foundation has provided assistance to students from underrepresented populations attending ICFNY colleges. National Fuel Gas ScholarshipsNational Fuel Gas Scholarships are awarded to students who are majoring in math, science, information technology, or engineering and attending designated private colleges in western New York. Nordstrom ScholarshipsThe Eastern Region of Nordstrom, Inc., contributed a grant to support 4 scholarships for qualified students interested in a career in retail marketing, business, fashion merchandising or graphic arts. State Farm ScholarshipsThe North Atlantic Office of State Farm provided support for scholarships for students who are majoring in accounting, business, marketing, criminal justice, communications, English or foreign language programs who are nominated by a faculty member. Triad FoundationThe Triad Foundation provided scholarship assistance to 10 students with financial need attending ICFNY colleges in the central New York region. (view/download application) UPS Foundation ScholarsSince 1964, the UPS Foundation has been supporting the ICFNY with gifts through the Foundation for Independent Higher Education. In 2006-2007 one student at each ICFNY member institution was named the UPS Scholar and received a grant of $2,250. (view/download application) |
